narrative project reflection

narrative project reflection

For my interview I felt it would be best to interview my mother Lisa. I decided on interviewing my mother do to the fact I know she has gone tough alot in her life, and I was interested to hear what moment had one of the biggest impacts on shaping who she is as a woman. I was really happy with the results I got from my mom in this interview. I felt it got a little personal for her so I decided  not to share it with the class but I was very happy with the results of the interview. She went in depth with her answer of joining the military as one of her biggest moments. She gave a run down of why she joined how it happened and just continued with conversation of how it was impacting her at the time. She then explains why it was so important and gave a run down of the results of joining the military. If I had to do this interview again I don’t think I would change anything. If i had to change something all I would want to change is that I would have liked to do the interview in person instead of asking over the phone and having my mother record herself. I thought this interview worked out extremely well I just let my mom answer the question and she just got really into the question and gave an in depth answer. I believe this proves the point that life isn’t just a single narrative. This connects to the question of our essay should we see life as a narrative. I believe that life can be seen as a narrative because this story for her sets up her mother stories in life. The fact that she went through this shaping her identity which force her to use what she learned for the rest of her life. This impacts all the rest of the life impacting all her other stories from that moment on.
